Nigerian designer Olubunmi Adeyemi is on a mission to create a new, contemporary design language he calls “Afrominima”. Combining minimalism, functionality, and cues from his native Yoruba culture, The Da Brand translates this concept to the contemporary home with a debut collection inspired by the tools commonly found in a traditional Nigerian kitchen. True to the brand’s name — “Da” is the Yoruba word for “to make” or to “create” — each object is handcrafted by local artisans using locally-sourced wood to support the local economy.
