Txt.ure

Set on preserving the lost art of tule weaving — a craft dating back to pre-Hispanic times — Mexico City-based art historian and design curator Regina Pozo launched txt.ure in 2015, in partnership with the last remaining group of artisans still practicing the ancient Mayan techniques. Their initial collection of intricately woven furniture, which recontextualizes nearly-forgotten designs for the modern home, offers distinct pieces of work on the edge of design, craft, and art. By bringing opportunity for the craftsmen and training a new generation of weavers, txt.ure creates a powerful connection to the nation’s past while also looking to the future of Mexican design with a strong social ethos.
