Tensira

The Tensira story originates in Africa, where in its namesake village in the Republic of Guinea, the community’s artisans are renowned for their expertise in dyeing indigo. Inspired to design a collection of sustainable home essentials while providing opportunities for the West African artisans who create them, Hamidou Diallo and Tuulia Makinen Diallo founded Tensira, a brand where traditional African craftsmanship and modern minimalist design intersect.

Why Goodee Loves

Tensira

Tensira honors Guinean craftsmanship through a fully integrated, locally rooted production—from spinning and weaving to hand-dyeing each textile. We admire their commitment to natural materials, traditional indigo techniques, and a zero-waste approach powered in part by solar energy. By creating long-term opportunities for over 100 artisans—many of them women—Tensira preserves heritage skills while supporting sustainable livelihoods and responsible production.
